Can you describe your home in just one word?... if you have followed my blog at all (Merci!), then you know I am French on my daddy's side of the family and English on my mama's side... I absolutely LOVE everything French AND everything English... many of my family heirlooms are from France and England and hold precious memories for me... our home is very eclectic... I never follow fads or trends... always just kinda dance to a different drum... and follow my own path in life... everywhere you look in our home are beautiful reminders of my heritage... what shall I call this humble abode of mine?... sort of shabby French farmhouse with some English cottage tossed in... and of course filled with all of my treasures from the trail from our daily Nature walks... a farmhouse kitchen with vintage treasures everywhere... somehow it all blends together beautifully... in my eyes anyway... so I simply call it "Home"... it reflects the lifestyle Jack and I have always lived... I love pretty things... but nothing is too over the top fancy... cozy and warm... welcoming and inviting to family and friends... doggies included!... (kitties too... and any other of God's precious little creatures you want to bring!)...
I love spending a quiet day at home... reading and relaxing... baking something yummy... or simply sipping coffee and whiling away an afternoon lost in daydreams...
Precious family photos are everywhere... like my great~grandfather Pierre Seraphin Vicknair... I whisper bonjour grand~père to this dear great~grandfather of mine I never met yet know well... the soft look in his eyes tells me all I need to know...
A plump, mushy bed to lull me to sleep at night... my favorite shabby writing desk nestled in a corner by the window... a perfect spot to watch my feathered friends at the feeders in our backyard...
Vintage French tresors that speak of days~gone~by mingle with newer ones like my teeny Limoges Muguet (my birth~flower) heart box that was a gift from Jack my love for my birthday last May...
Flowers lovingly dried from my garden are scattered everywhere throughout our home... they make me smile... and think of a beautiful Summers day in the midst of a long cold winter...
My favorite thing of all that fills my home and my life?...
Love... wishing you all a beautiful day... xoxo... Julie Marie PS I am going to have a beautiful French~inspired giveaway coming up very soon... a sort of "Merci" to all of my beautiful blogging friends for your visits here to Idyllhours... anyone who leaves a comment on this post will be entered as well as the actual giveaway post in several days where I will post the gifts... the rules to enter?... there are none!... hooray!... just your comment will enter you... I haven't always played by the rules in my life... so we won't have any now!... xoxo... Moi

Your home looks so beautiful and inviting filled with treasures of your family. That is the way I decorate too. I mix things that I love with family pictures and heirlooms and call it home. Wishing you a beautiful day.
Lovely sentiments on what makes a house a home. A house filled with gathered treasures over the years is truly Home ♥ And of course, a dog xo
Absolutely beautiful...
Ciao for now...
Lovely post and photos ! Have a good day !
I so enjoyed you stopping by! I can't wait to see your tree with all the vintage ornaments on it...I have collected all my life as well and my mother left me a 50 year accumulation! I can hardly get my decorating done for stopping to look at old decorations with such sweet memories. Your home is so beautiful and full treasures, I always love to stop by for a visit! Hugs, Penny
I love a home filled with trinkets and treasures...they say so much about those who live there and yours speak of your tender feelings for past generations in your family. I love all of your delicate touches from dried rose petals to lace and heirloom pictures. You truly have a lovely home!
Again, thank you so much for thinking of me yesterday and you are in my thoughts today.
XO,
Jane
Oh what a beautiful post! There is no need for buying Romantic Homes Magazine with "Idyllhours" in our Land of Blog!!! I LOVED every word and the visual beauty you've given us... I have missed stolling with you...Thank you for being You!
Your home honors your heritage. All good! My style is sweet and simple...whoops, that's more than one word!
Farmhouse hugs,
Cindy
My home would not be MY home without my precious puppies. My home requires a bit of dog hair here and there! That said, I can't imagine my home not being filled with mementos of my DH and my life together, mixed in with depression ware glass, old lace, and samples of my beadwork, scrapbooking and card making. I also require flowers inside when there are no flowers outside. These all make me smile and inspire me to create and decorate.
Your home is such a lovely reflection of who you are.
I love your bust and your cozy bedroom. I adore busts and have too many.
Hi Julie Marie - I have been reading your blog for quite a while now and just love it. It brings a sense of peace and beauty to me. I love so many of the same things you do - pretty things that have a story or memory attached to them, lots of pictures of loved ones, eclectic and comfortable and homey and welcoming.... Oh, and I love nature and my little furry, spoiled princess I rescued from an awful life at a puppy mill :-(
Looking forward to reading more of your lovely posts (and your giveaway, of course)
Hi Julie Marie, Your home is lovely as only you can display. An inviting place to dream and be.

Julie Marie,
Your home is truly a reflection of how I imagine you to be. Sweet, loving, and welcoming. It's a place where one would want to linger for more than a minute or two. Love all of your special touches!
